University of Iowa Health Care seeks its next Deputy Director to lead the NCI designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Clinical Services team. The UI HCCC is the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, a distinction it has held since 2000. The center coordinates all cancer related research, education, and patient care by faculty and staff from 41 departments and six colleges across the university. A hallmark of the HCCC is multi-investigator collaboration among basic, clinical, and population scientists. In concert with University of Iowa Health Care, the HCCC is expanding its clinical practice to additional sites such as its Quad Cities campus in Bettendorf, IA, outreach sites, and collaboration with community oncologists and critical access hospitals to provide access to cutting edge treatments and clinical trials. In addition, UI Health Care recently forged an agreement with Mission Cancer + Blood to create a comprehensive cancer care network across the state of Iowa, which will greatly increase access to advanced cancer treatment and research across the State of Iowa.


The successful candidate for Deputy Director will be a creative leader and an accomplished administrator who understands the changing healthcare environment and is able to leverage the Center’s strengths to advance and support excellence in the delivery of clinical care and community engagement. The Deputy Director will be responsible for access, care delivery and coordination of cancer care at all UI Health sites, and cooperative efforts such as outreach and community collaboration to deliver exceptional care. This individual will foster excellent relationships across the institution and region, and will build innovative clinical programs. Stature in academic medicine in an oncology-related discipline (basic science, surgery, medical oncology, or radiation oncology), a record of effective administrative and fiscal leadership, exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive workforce, and positive interactions with students, staff, and faculty are all important qualifications.

Our department's strength lies in its interdisciplinary team, which includes physicians, nurse midwives, advanced practice nurses, physician associates, genetic counselors, sonographers, and embryologists. Her background ensures a strong focus on women’s health, maternal care, and emerging infectious diseases in pregnancy, which are critical areas in medical education and research. Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine


Our faculty practice encompasses both inpatient and outpatient activities, highlighting our role as Iowa’s only quaternary academic referral center. Inpatient responsibilities include overseeing the antepartum service and managing obstetric deliveries for MFM patients. In our outpatient clinics, we provide comprehensive care for a wide range of maternal and fetal complications of pregnancy, offering both consultative and complete OB care. We interpret all obstetric ultrasounds for our hospital system, which includes:



  • Two hospitals

  • Five outpatient locations

  • Two telemedicine sites


Our ultrasound unit is accredited by the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine. Additionally, we have three full-time and two part-time genetic counselors, shared with the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine seeks new faculty focused on neurodegenerative disease. We are interested in candidates focused on understanding fundamental circuits and basic pathogenic mechanisms that go awry in neurodegenerative disease and/or translational research that promises to impact diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and ALS.


We expect that a recruit will have a record of exceptional accomplishment. Recruits could become a member of Neuroscience and Pharmacology, Psychiatry, Biochemistry, or Neurology as these are departments participating in this faculty recruitment.  Preferred areas of research may complement existing strengths at our institution, including systems neuroscience, disorders of the nervous system, central energy metabolism and control, molecular physiology, and cell signaling. The Department of Internal Medicine seeks a clinical psychologist to join the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation. This position is full time or part time. The psychologist would provide psychological services to cancer patients in a tertiary-level cancer center in an outpatient setting. The psychologist will work as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, integrated interdisciplinary team within the Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. A successful candidate will work collaboratively with oncology providers and psychosocial oncology providers to deliver office-based individual and group therapy, psychological assessments, and interventions on a consultative basis. They will also participate in academic and program-building activities. All clinical, teaching and administrative activities are carried out within the workday with no expectation of after-hours or on-call coverage.  


Primary Duties:



  • Deliver individual and/or group psychotherapy for cancer patients and caregivers using evidence-based treatment approaches.

  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to graduate and doctoral-level psychology trainees, as assigned.

  • Participate in integrated behavioral oncology consultations through direct clinical care and case consultation meetings with psychooncology team members.

  • Work with the multidisciplinary psychosocial oncology team to identify system improvement opportunities and resolve gaps/disparities in whole-person care.

  • Partake in biopsychosocial distress screening, interdisciplinary communication, collaborative care navigation, and follow-up algorithms.

  • Perform psychological/neuropsychological assessments and interventions for adult cancer patients (if their training allows it).

  • Complete patient clinical and billing documentation according to UI Healthcare guidelines and timelines.

The Department of Psychiatry in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a Psychologist to join our clinical track faculty. The UI Department of Psychiatry is comprised of more than 90 full-time faculty members who provide national and global leadership across a range of psychiatric areas including child psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, eating disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, medical psychiatry, community psychiatry, and perinatal mental health.


This appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, open rank. The position is a 1.0 FTE and consists of 75% clinical, 20% academic, and 5% leadership time.


This Psychologist will join a progressive and growing psychology division within the larger department and will be a member of the Women’s Wellness & Counseling Service (WWC) team. The WWC is the product of a unique collaboration between the Departments of Psychiatry and Obstetrics-Gynecology. Located at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics - Iowa’s premier academic medical center - the WWC has the unique distinction of being the only clinic in the state to provide comprehensive, specialized psychotherapy and medication management services in an outpatient care setting. We serve women across the reproductive spectrum with a focus on the perinatal period. Since its founding in 2007 the WWC has experienced tremendous growth which has resulted in the development of innovative initiatives including a Health Psychology program with the Center for Advanced Reproductive Care (hospital fertility clinic) and an Inpatient Antepartum Mental Health Care Clinic, as well as embedded mental health care in the OB-GYN Maternal Substance Abuse Disorders Clinic and Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.


The primary foci of this position will be threefold: 1) the Psychologist will join the Center for Advanced Reproductive Care’s current Health Psychologist/WWC Clinic Director to provide fertility counseling and third-party reproduction consultations/evaluations, 2) the Psychologist will play an integral role in the implementation of a robust clinical research program with a reproductive health foundation, and 3) the Psychologist will serve in a leadership role as Assistant Clinic Director.


The Perinatal/Reproductive Health Psychologist will provide/engage in:



  • Diagnostic assessment and outpatient psychotherapy using evidence-based individual, couples, and (potentially) group therapy models

    • Care will be provided to those who are planning to conceive, coping with infertility, or suffering from perinatal loss, who are pregnant or postpartum, coping with PMS/PMDD or other OB-GYN medical concerns, or who are going through the menopausal transition

    • Treatment will include both in-person and telehealth care



  • Specialized care coordination with the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division, offering consultation, fertility counseling, and third-party/surrogacy evaluations

  • Education, teaching, training, supervision, and consultation to medical students, doctoral students, physician residents, fellows, and other care providers

  • Clinical research that focuses on patient care or training initiatives

  • In collaboration with the Clinic Director the Psychologist will:

    • Engage in development of clinic didactic programming and outreach initiatives

    • Assist with day-to-day administrative operations including hiring and overseeing staff, running clinic meetings, managing use of facilities, and liaising with department leadership teams

    • Represent the WWC and Psychiatry Department by serving as a member of various community, state, and national collaboratives and service initiatives designed to advance maternal mental health

The Department of Psychiatry within the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a Licensed Psychologist to join our clinical track faculty and the IDMI (Intellectual Disability/Mental Illness) program.  The candidate will join the psychology division within the larger department of psychiatry. The candidate will be an active member of a specialized interdisciplinary team of social work, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, and medicine with expertise supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and severe challenging behaviors.   


Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, open rank. The position is a 1.0 FTE and consists of 80% clinical time and 20% academic time.


The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a psychologist to join our interdisciplinary outpatient team to provide clinical services to children, adolescents and/or adults with intellectual disabilities. The psychologist will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy and clinical assessment as well as education and consultation to patients/families and care providers. Incoming faculty will receive mentoring and support for growth and innovation and almost endless opportunities for collaboration. The team is involved in research projects and its members support regional and national presentations, training and publication process. The team interfaces with safety and security, nursing, and physicians to support patients with behavioral needs throughout the hospital. Working in the state’s only tertiary academic medical center offers unique opportunities for program development and application of skills for very complex patients.


The psychologist will engage in teaching at multiple levels, such as medical residents/fellows, medical students, and graduate students. Teaching opportunities include more formal didactics and clinical teaching in areas of the psychologist’s expertise. Leadership will work closely with the candidate to optimize their time to work in preferred areas of interest.
