The Department of Anesthesia is seeking a faculty member for appointment on the Research Track at the rank of Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor, depending on qualifications.

Position Responsibilities:

• Conduct research involving positron emission tomography (PET) and/or computed tomography (CT) imaging of the lungs.


• Develop and apply computational models to analyze airway behavior and ventilation heterogeneity in conditions such as asthma and pulmonary arterial hypertension.


• Collaborate with clinicians, engineers, and scientists across departments to design and execute experiments.

About the Department of Radiology:

The Department of Radiology includes 69 staff physicians, 22 PhD researchers, 27 fellows, and 36 residents. The Radiology enterprise expands across four campuses throughout the Iowa City corridor. We also serve Stead Family Children’s Hospital located at the Medical Center University campus, as well as several UI urgent cares, clinics, and additional affiliates. Our enterprise operates 12 clinical CT scanners including two Alpha photon-counting scanners, 14 clinical MR scanners including four 3T machines, and the first Siemens Free.Max MR to be housed in an Emergency Department in the United States. We operate three time-of-flight (TOF) PET/CT systems and anticipate receiving a Siemens PET/MR in fall 2025.

The Department of Radiology plays an integral role in the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging (IIBI), a collaboration of nearly 100 faculty and staff within the colleges of Engineering, Medicine, and Liberal Arts (https://www.iibi.uiowa.edu). The facility includes 3T, 3T head only and 7T research scanners.

The Department of Radiology consistently ranks highly in the Blue Ridge Institute NIH rankings, having received over $10 million in NIH funding last year. We host nine research labs and have 37 active phase I and phase II clinical trials.

The University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies specialist. The Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies Program provides comprehensive care for patients with hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, brain tumors, and non-malignant conditions. The Division also has a robust Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program in collaboration with the NCI-designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa. The scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, multi-institutional clinical trials, CAR-T and other cellular therapies, gene therapy, and additional innovative clinical protocols.
